Everything you need to know about buying koi, visiting our farm, and working with us commercially.
Buying & Ordering
How do I purchase a koi from KoiImperial?+
For Tiers 1–3 (Standard, Intermediate, and Advanced), you can add directly to cart and check out online. For Tiers 4–6 (Premium Broodstock, Elite Show Quality, and Ultra Premium), we handle these by private enquiry. Contact us via our enquiry form, email, or WhatsApp and we will provide full details, photos, and pricing.
Can I visit the farm and select my koi in person?+
Yes — and we strongly encourage it for premium stock. Our facility in Gomoa Eastern, Ghana is open to buyers by appointment. You can tour the natural lake, walk the ponds, and personally select the fish you want. Book a farm visit here. For international buyers, our team can assist with local accommodation through our affiliated vineyard resort.
What payment methods do you accept?+
For online orders we accept major cards, bank transfer, and mobile money. For commercial and high-value orders, we handle payment by bank transfer or escrow depending on order size. All payment details are provided at the point of invoice. We do not share banking details over social media — only via official communication channels.
Is there a minimum order quantity?+
No minimum for online orders — you can purchase a single fish. For commercial bulk orders (Tiers 1–3), we offer volume pricing starting from 10 fish. For commercial broodstock programmes, we work on a programme basis with pricing based on quantity, species, and size requirements. See commercial options here.
Shipping & Export
Do you ship live koi internationally?+
Yes. We ship live koi internationally via specialist live aquatic transport using oxygen-sealed bags, temperature-controlled packaging, and insulated boxes. We work with licensed live cargo handlers and have experience shipping to the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and across Africa. Transit times and packaging are calibrated to the destination. Contact us before ordering to confirm shipping feasibility to your country.
What export documentation do you provide?+
All international orders include: Health Certificate (veterinary inspection), CITES-compliant documentation where applicable, Export Permit from Ghana, Packing Declaration, and Commercial Invoice. Premium broodstock orders also include a Lineage Certificate documenting breeding programme and parentage. We provide all paperwork before shipment.
What is your live arrival guarantee?+
We guarantee live arrival for all shipments using our packaging system. In the unlikely event of DOA (Dead on Arrival), we require photo evidence within 2 hours of receipt. We will provide a replacement or full credit at our discretion. Our packing protocol has an excellent track record — we will not ship if we have concerns about weather, transit conditions, or the health of the fish.
How long does shipping take?+
For most West African destinations, 1–3 days. For international destinations including UK and Europe, typically 24–48 hours via direct flight cargo. We will not ship on routes requiring excessive transit times. All shipping windows are confirmed with you before your fish leave the farm.
Fish Health & Care
How are the fish health-checked before sale?+
Every fish is individually inspected by our team before listing. For premium and broodstock orders, we conduct a full veterinary health check including parasite screening, water quality verification, and condition scoring. Fish showing any stress indicators are not listed for sale. We apply a 14-day health guarantee from arrival — if health issues attributable to our farm appear within this period, we will address them.
What water conditions are the koi raised in?+
Our koi are raised in natural, clean freshwater sourced from our on-site lake in Gomoa Eastern. The water is naturally filtered, oxygen-rich, and maintained to Japanese-standard parameters for koi husbandry. We do not use artificial chemicals or hormones in our growing programme. The tropical environment, clean water, and natural feeding contribute to the vibrant colouration our fish are known for.
What do I need to prepare before my koi arrives?+
Your pond or tank should be fully cycled with established beneficial bacteria before the fish arrives. We recommend water temperature between 15–25°C (59–77°F), pH 7.0–8.0, and appropriate filtration for the number of fish. Float the bag in your pond for 20–30 minutes to equalise temperature before releasing the fish. Quarantine new arrivals for at least 2–3 weeks before introducing to established stock. We are happy to advise on setup — just contact us.
Commercial & Broodstock
Do you offer broodstock for commercial breeding programmes?+
Yes — this is one of our core offerings. We supply verified lineage broodstock for commercial aquaculture operations. Fish come with full documentation including parentage records, breeding history, and health certificates. We can discuss long-term supply agreements, grow-out partnerships, or one-time commercial acquisitions. See full broodstock details here.
What is the world-record koi, and do you have anything comparable?+
The S Legend Kohaku is widely known as the benchmark for elite koi at the very top of the market. That level represents the pinnacle of decades of selective breeding for pattern perfection, body conformation, and scale quality. Our Ultra Premium Tier 6 includes fish from championship lineages within this world. These are acquired by private enquiry and personal farm visit, with pricing provided per individual fish. Request the private catalogue here.
Can you supply large volumes on an ongoing basis?+
Yes. We have the capacity to supply ongoing commercial volumes for retail operations, aquaculture programmes, and pond-stocking businesses. We recommend establishing a supply partnership with an annual procurement plan so we can align growing cycles with your needs. Contact us to discuss quantities, species, size ranges, and pricing for your programme.
